STAMFORD METHODIST CHURCH

Stamford Methodist Church in Barn Hill is a very busy, friendly and welcoming church that offers a wide variety of events throughout the week.  A typical week looks like this: on Monday evenings there is a prayer group in our Prayer Chapel.  On Tuesdays, there are two house groups, in the morning and afternoon, and the JC Boys' Club and Girls' Brigade meet in the evening.  On Wednesdays Twinkle Tots meets in the downstairs hall for parents/carers and their children to have fun and fellowship. It is run by members of our church.  Wednesday Fellowship meet at 2pm for a talk followed by refreshments.  Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays The Well is open (10am-2pm)  for drinks, light lunches and a chance to chat and meet friends. Fairtrade goods, a selection of books and greeting cards are also on sale.   Our orchestra practice on Thursdays at 6:30pm.  On Saturdays (12noon-2pm)  ‘Second Helpings’, our real junk  food cafe project, operates a 'pay as you feel' café.  Pay what you like, to eat good food, and help to reduce local food waste.  They also supply food from their "Pantry" during the week and have a "Community Fridge" from which people can take food.  On Sundays the focal point of the week is our Morning Service at 10.30 am to which all are welcome.  The atmosphere is warm and friendly, though  reverent.  The congregation includes all ages - children, young people, middle aged & elderly;  we have a crèche and our children and young people meet in their groups alongside the service.

Many clubs and groups hire out our rooms during the week too, so the church hosts everything from prayer to Pilates!  Our Mission Projects Group runs an active programme of events and concerts throughout the year, to raise awareness and money for selected local and overseas charitable projects.
